Puzzle & Dragons Z Racks Up Sales on Nintendo 3DS

Puzzle & Dragons Z, a sequel to GungHo Online Entertainment’s original iOS and Android monster-seller, sold 543,600 copies during the first week it was available for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan, based on numbers released by Media Create.

While this represents only a fraction of the approximately 20 million copies sold on mobile platforms in Japan to date, it’s definitely off to a good start, especially considering the massive difference in price (the 3DS version retails for approximately $45, while the mobile app is free to play (with in-game purchases of course)).

There has been no word on a U.S. release for Puzzle & Dragons Z yet, but with over a million downloads on smartphones in the U.S., we think it stands a chance of making it over here.
